I used to love a cold, crisp Red Delicious apple as a kid, but lately they just seem mealy to me. I prefer Galas. Honeycrisps are wonderful but those suckers are 'SPENSIVE.

I like Gravenstein. They are tart and sweet. Like Granny Smith but bit jucier.

Fuji apples beat them ALL for me, but are not as plentiful year round. They are crispy, don't brown easily. not too tart or too sweet.

No, they're terrible. Bland and mealy.

I like crisp apples with a fresh taste and a snap to them. Gala, Fuji, sometimes Empire. I really like Arkansas Black, but they're usually found at orchard shops in season, v. general grocery store year round.

never liked Delicious-grainy texture and too sweet.

Used to like Rome but can't seem to find them anymore. Now it's either Gala or Fuji.

Found some last year called Cameo. Hoping to find them again this year.

They are gorgeous to look at, taste, not too appealing to us. We prefer pink ladies or honeycrisp.

I don't mind the flavor of red delicious but am not a fan of the texture.

When we bought our first EXPENSIVE Honeycrisp the whole family gathered round while DH cut it for us to try. You'd have thought we were sampling a rare wine. Delicious but I'm sorry, not gonna send them to school with the kids.
I too mix granny smith and any kind of sale apple in cooking.

It's expensive but it spoiled us for the rest of the apples. I just buy a bag of pink ladies at Aldi's for the most part with honey crisp here and there.
