I don't care for it, in general. It doesn't disgust me, nor would it ever occur to me to purchase one. Just general feeling of deep "meh."
My FIL, a retired/bored grocer, enjoys scouring sale fliers and coming over and dropping off deals he found. Mostly this is cool, but, right now, a result is that i have a huge watermelon that doesn't excite me in the least.
I need some ways* to prepare it that might be more appealing than just eating as -is, which does nothing for me.
*don't suggest cutting a hole and filling with vodka, please. I don't like vodka, either. Not adverse to other alcoholic recipes, though.

Whats with the micro melons I am seeing in stores? There cant be much flesh in them.
Round or oblong, I like the big ones and have gotten pretty good at picking a ripe one. Seems the seeded variety has more flavor, but I also eat the seedless ones.
I understand there are MANY varieties. Has anyone found their favorite?
The little ones are great for single people or a family where only one person likes watermelon.Both DH and I like watermelon a lot, and when we buy a big one, we bring some to our friend who has a wife who hates the texture if ut and doesn't buy it.
