Although blackberries are my favourite raspberries are a very close second. They are perfect plain but I love to make and can raspberry jam. It is not hard and it makes a jam so good I dare to call it sublime tasting!

Hit the PYO farm at lunch and came home with a couple pounds of nice black raspberries and a few pounds of beautiful jumbo blueberries. My back is a bit sore, but worth it x10...

Raspberries really are in a world of their own. Even frozen ones, when I can't get fresh, seem to hit the spot. I add sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice. And it's not just the taste.. I find the scent of them so intoxicating it's led me to look up perfumes that use raspberry! Sadly most of those are excessively 'gourmandy' for me.

The other thing I've done with the leftover raspberry juice (aside from drinking it) is, incorporated it into a salad dressing with olive oil, garlic, salt and Dijon mustard. It's a refreshing change from the red wine vinegar dressing I usually make.

Raspberries and blackberries remind me of chiggers.

Chiggers?

We have something here in so. MN we call "raspberry bugs." When I googled for a picture I only found one. There were all different pictures of bugs though so maybe it's more of a local thing?

That's why I say to always look in the little hiding space or you may make lunch out of this unwelcome fellow:

I have English muffins every morning, and if I have some raspberries around I will mix some into a small amount of raspberry jam and dump it onto a buttered muffin. Sometimes I make the same mixture but add a little lemoncello to it and use on top of ice cream.
