I just took the ribs off the grill. Five hours and fifteen minutes tied to the rotisserie on the gas grill on lowest heat. They were falling apart. Now to get them pinto beans cooked. We made slaw yesterday. Nice cold watermelon for desert.
the food was delicious,, the company/family was awesome,,,
the only difficulty we had was ...
two "guests" of family members started talking politics....
that's family rule,,,no politics! (just leads to hurt feelings and not one thing gets solved)
so, I had to take these left wing moon-bats aside and politely ask them to temper the politics or feel free to leave. and if one of them lights up another joint out back of the house,,,i will tell them to leave permanently
I am working tonight till midnight so tomorrow will be our fourth of July. During the day we might hit up an arts festival and then ribs and grilled corn for dinner. If no arts festival I'll make the ribs/corn for lunch
Grilled burgers, hot & smoky baked beans, Ina Garten's potato salad, deviled eggs, and homemade tres leches cake decorated with berries for the 4th. Waiting for a storm to pass to fire up the grill.
Shorelunch cornmeal battered and pan fried catfish fillets. I even whisked two eggs and some 2% milk for a predunk moistening to seal the old fashioned homestyle batter on before I shook them in a Ziploc bag. Fried them in an old 50+ year old cast iron skillet on the gas stove in vegetable oil. I baked some Tater Tots and homemade macaroni and cheese for sides. It turned out very very well accordingly to my family. They all said that was the best fish they have had all year and beat every local restaurant around.
Today the 5th is going to be T-bones dry rub seasoned cooked medium/medium well on the Weber charcoal grill. Loaded baked potatoes with melted mozzarella and cheddar cheese, crispy bacon pieces, butter, sour cream, salt & pepper. Salad with bleu cheese dressing. Depending on who, ice cold chocolate milk, Bud Light and Pepsi to drink.
It's a good eating weekend for my family and I have cooked it all myself except for the supreme pizza on Friday night we had.
Nathans Hot Dogs, cole slaw, potato salad, guacamole dip with tortilla chips (yes we tried it with peas), big bottle of Sangria, blueberry cheesecake for desert
