Pretty much any candy/chocolate shop. I'd go for the high-end ones, otherwise you get that waxy cheap chocolate.

Wow - this thread has taken a life of it's own. Great recommendations, everyone - I wouldn't have thought to check a lot of these places.

I guess chocolate-covered coffee beans have more fans than I originally thought

No, I am thinking of chocolate covered coffee beans. I get them in the bulk section all the time from different grocery stores.

Really? That sounds a lot like buying food at goodwill. I don't want my chocolate covered coffee beans to to be last seasons, on clearance.

I have never seen any packages of food nearing their expiration dates in those stores.
While I rarely buy food items from those stores, on the occasions when I have done so, the expiration dates were nowhere near their sell-by dates.

Most food items at stores like those are not old...they are more likely to be over stocks or over produced. They can't sell them past their expiration date just like any other retailer.

These stores are not like goodwill anyway...snobby much?

Lol! I shop at goodwill at least twice a month, so, no, I don't consider myself snobby...

I just wouldn't buy food there.

Goodwill is donated items....why would they be at goodwill anyway?

The other stores carry new merchandise...buying a prepackaged item there is not different than buying it off the shelf at any other store.
