In-n-Out Burger consistently has pleasant, polite & efficient service (and really good burgers, wow, I miss them!) but it's a fact that the employees are paid better than the average fast food worker & treated better as well. In my experience it's usually McDonald's service that is lacking but I generally try to avoid McD's anyway.
There is an article about this. I'm sure there are many articles. Chcik-Fil-A is the overwhelming favorite in terms of customer service in the US. McDonald's is the overwhelming loser. Is anyone surprised?

Like Portillo's, In & Out always seems to have a lot of people behind the counter and in the kitchen, but they are well organized and really hustle.

I doubt McDonald's is clearly worse than any other place all the time. The word "McDonald's" just makes people think of "terrible" food with "lethargic" employees that "don't care". It has a negative perception just because it's McDonald's, even if it doesn't always deserve it.

I agree. I'm always impressed with the energy and hustle of the In & Out employees. I've been to several of their restaurants and it's always a pleasant experience.
BTW -- I've never been to a 'Chick Fil A' that had poor service or food and that includes Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee and Florida locations that I have been to over the last 5 years.
I agree. Chick-Fil-A clearly holds their staff to a higher standard and it shows by being quite a bit better (and friendlier) than almost all of the other fast food chains.
