Tonight ready made Spanakopita Triangles from Costco,a yogurt sauce with garlic and red chili,a tomato and onion salad and a carrot salad with curry,black pepper,lemon juice,pinch of sugar and yogurt. To drink red or white wine of choice. For dessert a sour cherry and coconut cream cake with a cup of black coffee.
Pork ribs and sauerkraut. Mighty funny food for a warm day but I've been having a craving for them.
We have new potatoes in onion cream sauce, green beans and corn from the Farmer's Market. And I made a large tabouli salad with fresh cucumber and cherry tomatoes from our garden.
There are eight lovely peaches sitting on the counter which were supposed to go into a pie yesterday but it looks like target day will be tomorrow. I make my peach pie with a touch of almond extract, nutmeg and a pinch of orange zest - none enough so that the taste jumps out. It really enhances the peach flavor and gives the pie a different personality than the usual cinnamon-flavored peach pie.
New tenant just moved in and he's a VEGETARIAN, which I'm not . As a welcome meal I'm fixing rodentraiser's "refried beans in a crock pot" using just water instead of chicken stock. Curious how it will turn out.
Skirt steaks and shrimp on the grill. I am basting the shrimp with a garlic butter before grilling. I am also making a mixed salad with olives, chick peas, shredded cheese, croutons and honey balsamic dressing. BTW it feels like 110 degrees here.
