We want to do a dry rub chicken wing for a party.

Which would be better the kamado grill or the convection oven?

Neither of us have made wings before.

I use a Kamoda grill so that would be my choice. In your shoes I would do 6 each way for a test run. In my circles nothing matches the flavor of wood or charcoal.

Grill for sure. I recently did some in an after market grill basket I bought for my Weber 22.5 rotisserie.

I think it is just 5 of us? It's a casual party (in Hawaii almost every party is potluck).

I think one guy is bringing pizza, one guy is bringing an amazing confection called a "cocopuff".

Sorry, they are very yummiii and tasty....I am sure there are a kajillion neato ways to make them.

But I cannot add anything, will no longer buy them, the price seems like robbery to me. Add to that fact, the wing is the boniest part of a chicken.

It's not a dry rub, but we like Anthony's coal fired wings, not sure if we can post links, but you can google and it comes right up. We've made them quite a few times. Also, Pier 66 wings, which uses orange marmalade, soy sauce, coconut, etc., and is cooked in the oven. I can dig out recipe if you want.

We decided to split them and do both.

Split them into wings and drums and use the tips for whatever. I have moved to the air fryer for wings. Dry rub is fine. I prefer soaking them in simple hot sauce. Please do not tell on me For five - grill them. For 20 - into the oven with them. Keep it simple, serve them crispy and sizzling. Enjoy.

Can you elaborate on the cocopuff?

A coco puff is the perfect dessert, that's all I care about.

A light flaky, yet moist pastry filled with a dark chocolate pudding and topped with generous helping of butter / sugar mix. One bakery here is famous for them, others try but fail.

For the convection oven I am doing the thing with baking soda (powder) which is supposed to crisp them up super well.

I have angsted over buying an air fryer, but decided to wait as it seems similar to convection.

I still want one though.
