I like to salt grapefruit. Not the ruby red.

Yes I hate grapefruit. I don't get how anyone can even like it because it tastes so awful.

Processed grapefruit juice tends to be bitter and not very sweet, unless it has sugar added - in which case it tastes pretty nasty.

Next time, get a real actual grapefruit. Cut the grapefruit in half, sideways. Set the half open end up. Using a very sharp slender knife, cut the little white part out. Then cut the flesh free from the "sidewalls" of the peel.

Now, using a serrated spoon (or a regular teaspoon if you don't have a grapefruit spoon), dig the pulp out, one segment at a time.

Bonus points:

When you're finished, carefully, slowly, gently turn the peel inside out. Scrape all the pulp your spoon missed with your teeth. That's my favorite part. Mom used to always scold my dad when he'd do that, saying he was uncouth. I take after my dad

Love it. One of my favorite ingredients in a smoothie.

Funny, no one has mentioned that grapefruit alters the efficacy of quite a few prescription meds. I have to avoid it for that reason.

There, I have done my good deeds for the day, warned some about a potential nasty side effect of grapefruit, and made others look up efficacy.

Love grapefruit but can't eat it often due to the reason above. Fresh grapefruit is best, just slice off the peel and cut out segments. I typically eat it plain, but I've brûléed it before. Also like the Kirkland grapefruit cups ...mmmm.

Ditto, although I am not a fan of grapefruit, so it wasn't much of a loss.

I love grapefruit. Yum yum... If it warms up a little before you eat it, it will taste a little sweeter.
