Anyone here like it? Do you buy it already made or do you prepare it yourself? How do you like to eat it?
I make it myself. It's easy. Just whip up a can of drained chic peas in a food processor until they're smooth (add some water as you do it). Then add two tablespoons of Tahini, some salt, some cumin and some garlic (I like lots of garlic and cumin).
I like hummus but keep forgetting to buy it! Now I want to go out and get some.
It tastes good and it's a healthy thing to snack on. I don't want to be bothered making it though. I buy it as long as it doesn't contain red peppers (don't like them) and I can eat it on carrot sticks or with tortilla chips. It's really good on whole wheat pitas too. One place I ate at made pita sandwiches with it--lettuce, carrots, all sorts of goodies and with hummus all over it.
Isn't hummus just mashed up beans? My brother raves about it, but it's just beans.
Like salsa is just cut up tomatoes.
It's a spread or dip made of chickpeas (typically; other legumes can be used), usually sesame paste (tahini), olive oil, lemon juice, and flavorings and spices of one's choice.
