Alarming are all food imitations... like plastic cheese (American, Velveeta), Miracle Whip, fake blueberries (in pancakes, muffins), bacon bits, margarine, coffee creams, etc...etc...

There is no national Parmesan scare. Keep buying shelf Parmesan cheese if you like it. The cellulose is harmless and is there to make the product better.

I agree with this. I can't stand any cheese that is pre-melted in a jar, or (as Elnina said) looks like plastic.

My wife uses Kraft Parmesan and I grew up on the same. We aren't of Italian decent. No ome I know has died or become ill from pre-grated cheese.

I'm adventurous when it come to food, but there are a lot of scare articles on the internet that are meant to create a panic.

I'm not biting.

Such as cellulose... "It's WOOD!!!"
Yeah, it can be found in wood... It can also be found in a variety of other plants. It's harmless.

I'm not a fan of "fake" foods, so I don't buy it, but these scares can be pretty ridiculous.
I guess the red meat scare wore off so now it's time for a new topic.

Buy the good stuff and use a micro grater.

Since it tastes a million times better you'll use less and the cost differential become null do to the law of diminishing returns.

Less is more.

Parmesan doesn't have to be refrigerated; It's a hard cheese, so it only has to remain dry.

That reminds me - I need to go back to the market for a big cardboard container of more of that delicious parmesan-romano!
It's so awesomely delicious that I'm needing it now.

Come to think of it, I may get McDonald's this week.
