Does anyone know a good place to get frozen custard around the Boston area? Sounds like a treat.
Not me but it sounds yummy. Maybe I'll google a recipe for it--I don't even know what it is.

Sounds like Abbott's in Brighton is the very best. Now I have to see what this stuff IS and where to get it near where I live.
I think the liquid nitrogen method of making ice cream is just a gimmick. Our local liquid nitrogen ice cream parlor went out of business as soon as the novelty wore off. I thought the ice cream was okay, but it was way too expensive.
My favorite is "plain old ice cream" made with sweetened condensed milk and grape soda.
We have a liquid nitro chain. They have 4 or 5 now. One us near my pharmacy. It is the same price as the other fancy ice cream places. Some flavors were great and they have nice toppings. I'll go if I want ice cream.
I like gelato the best, but premium ice cream works too.
I don't eat it but every once in awhile, but regular old ice cream is what I choose. I don't think I've ever even HAD gelato - I'm not even sure how it's different from ice cream.
Soft serve is only goo to me when it's from DQ. And chocolate. Dipped in Chocolate.
I've only seen the liquid nitrogen stuff on TV. I've never heard of a brick and mortar store that sells it like an ice cream parlor - we're hard pressed to keep a frozen yogurt place open around here which probably explains why nothing that exotic would ever be on my radar.
Gelato is made of milk not cream. And it doesn't have a custard (egg) base like ice cream. And I cincepur with the other poster about density. Very spoonful has more flavor since there is less air. Nut gelatos are so good.
