I think the liquid nitrogen method of making ice cream is just a gimmick. Our local liquid nitrogen ice cream parlor went out of business as soon as the novelty wore off. I thought the ice cream was okay, but it was way too expensive.
My favorite is "plain old ice cream" made with sweetened condensed milk and grape soda.
Liquid nitrogen what the heck? I didn't know this was a thing except on those cooking competitions where they have to make 7 courses in 45 minutes. I voted for gelato, but there's really no such thing as bad ice cream.
Haagen Das ice cream. Never heard of the nitrogen thing and I think I've only had gelato one time. Soft serve? It's okay on a hot day but there just isn't much to it, not like real ice cream.
We have a great gelato place where I live called Frost. It's beginning to expand nationally, so if you hear of one where you live, check it out. Truly fantastic. The gelato-maker was here on a green card from Italy and when it expired the entire city of Tucson about melted down. A Congresscritter intervened to get him back and order was restored. Government at its finest.
