On a side note...Quaker also has a voluntary recall on their Quinoa Granola Bars. Here is that link..

Apparently some sunflower kernels were caught with listeria on them and they were distributed to a bunch of different companies. The FDA site has a list of all of those that are affected.

I buy all my frozen vegies at Trader Joe's and I don't give a rip about organic. Interesting to note that the TJ vegies that were recalled were all the organic versions.

Oy vey. I'm sorry to pick on you Jk, but I'm getting really tired of these unresearched, correlative implications [on any subject]. Making correlative implications is what once caused people to believe in witchcraft, too...

As we have talked about extensively in this forum already, listeria, the bacteria responsible for this recall, has absolutely ZERO to do with whether produce is organic or non-organic. That has NOTHING to do with it. It is a PROCESSING PLANT issue.

I am not making a statement in defense of organics, just in defense of doing our homework and using real logic and science before making false implications that potentially mislead us.

CRF, the IQF vegetable processing plant in Pasco, WA is a processing facility that specializes in the organic market. They process mostly frozen organic produce. Listeria is a result of issues with storing, handling, and processing that have NOTHING to do with whether produce is non-organic or organic. Listeria was found to be present in the processing plant, so the products (of any kind) going through the plant are affected by the recall. If the TJ's non-organic stuff was processed at the same time, in the same plant, it would also be recalled. ANY PRODUCT, whether organic or not, would be recalled if processed within the timeline of the other products that tested positive for listeria at the CRF processing plant.

This should help to clarify, I hope:

"This expanded recall of frozen vegetables includes all of the frozen organic and traditional fruit and vegetable products manufactured or processed in CRF Frozen Foods’ Pasco facility since May 1, 2014. All affected products have the best by dates or sell by dates between April 26, 2016 and April 26, 2018. These include approximately 358 consumer products sold under 42 separate brands, the details of which are listed below..."

Pretty much that is us as well. I will buy frozen corn and on rare occasions (maybe once a year) frozen green beans. I do, always have peas in the freezer as I use them for so many things.

Not that anyone wants to know, but I really dislike frozen carrots. The texture seems weird to me.

oh, I agree. I do sometimes buy spinach even though I said earlier to day I don't use frozen veggies except corn and peas. There are times when I need spinach and it is so off season that it is totally out of site price wise.
