Every time I eat Mexican food, I feel bad for hours. I thought it was the amount of food, but it's not. I had half of a boneless grilled chicken breast, a small order of refried beans, and a handful of tortilla chips last night. I felt bloated and gross for hours afterwards.

I'm almost wondering if it's the saltiness of Mexican food.

Does this happen with anyone else?

Mexican food, especially the "American" version, can be very greasy and salty. It doesn't make me feel bad unless I eat too much, but it's all too easy to eat too much of those delicious tortilla chips and salsa, and the refried beans with lots of melted cheese.

If you just had a few chips and a small amount of beans, maybe you are sensitive to something. Try skipping either the beans or the chips, and get some rice or fajita vegetables instead.

Do you eat beans regularly? If you don't eat beans often, when you do eat them it's common to feel bloated and gassy because it's hard for your body to break them down.

Try a Pepcid before eating. I bloat on lots of foods and it works for me.

I make refried bean burritos at home all the time (using canned beans) and never have any issues.

Try not eating take out Mexican for awhile. Make it at home that way you can control what goes into your food.

Mexican Food
This ^^^^^ caught my attention! I love all Mexican food, Americanized or Authentic, and I never feel bad after eating it. I admit though, I do have to work out extra hard after indulging too much.

That's weird then. Was it one of the chain restaurants? They usually have their ingredients listed online, maybe you could figure out what ingredient was causing your issue.

I started getting abdominal bloating and stomach symptoms when I ate canned refried beans, but didn't have the symptoms when I made them from scratch. It turned out I was developing a food allergy, but it was really hard to figure out what I was allergic to until the symptoms got more severe.

Nah, it's a local Mexican place here in Texas. I was just talking to a coworker about this and she thought because of chips, salsa, I might be eating more than I realize.

Were the beans and chips prepared with lard? I know that messed my stomach up after having eaten tortilla chips fried in vegetable oil my whole life then to buy some "authentic" lard ones from the store...
