We have tickets for a show this evening so we'll be having a crab cake dinner at home before heading out. I assume we'll be home in time to have some champagne and munchies before midnight.

The last of our holiday company leaves tomorrow so after we get back from the airport in the morning, and after 9 straight days of house guests, I think we will crash and do nothing. At this point, I think pizza might sound really good, maybe with ham.

Just got back from 9 days with the grandkids (one of whom I nursed through 3 after-Christmas days of vomiting and fever)...whew. No cooking for me this weekend. DH is out picking up some nibblies for us to graze on...pizza, fixings for nachos, chips. I'm reading a great murder mystery, relaxing (for the first time in 9 days), and we'll have drinks later and quietly wait for 2017 to arrive.

Vermicelli w/ mussels w/ a marinara sauce. Whole wheat Flat Bread w/ it. Chocolate Ice Cream for dessert. Craving for it even though it's cold outside.

Stay home and relax. I'm cooking eggplant casserole with crabmeat and sausage, and dirty rice with shrimp. I'll enjoy with a glass of red wine and chocolate fudge for dessert.

Happy New Year!!!

New Years Eve will be pretty quiet; Mr.Mathlete has to work in the morning, so we'll just be watching the Twilight Zone marathon. Cherry Wheats for me, seltzer for him. Tomorrow I'll cook our traditional New Years Day feast: eye round roast, fried shrimp, roasted taters, steamed veggies, and veg'n filet mignon (it's real, and it's spectacular). Pink champagne, sparking cider, and a Rocky marathon.

New Year's Eve meal = tom kha, larb, and som tam at an Isan style restaurant in Bangkok. Well I guess the som tam didn't last long enough to even take the picture so it's just a plate with the remaining juice. Came to about $4, including a drink.

Well, we were supposed to have Ham, Mac & Cheese, and Collard greens. But someone forgot to take the Ham out of the freezer until yesterday.

So, Chinese food it is!

We ate out Christmas Eve. I had pan seared scallops, spicy potato fritters, grilled asparagus, salad with blue cheese dressing and a desert that I actually ate today.

New Years Dal I make mixed greens - collards, kale, and mustard greens, steamed and sauteed in evoo, onions, sweet peppers, celery and carrots, black eyed peas and great northern beans, in broth, with wild and brown rice, and jalapenos. Grilled Kielbasa and onions. Thyme Rosemary bread and whipped butter.

Homemade red potato salad with minced dill pickles and sour cream.

Strawberry Refrigerator Cake.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
