I am taking a bag of leftover turkey from the freezer and turning it into turkey pot pie.

Have a happy Monday!

That sounds like a great idea. I have some beautiful turkey left, and gravy too. I might take a break for a day and make spaghetti and meatballs tonight.

Helping DD out for a while. So making tonight lamb meatball curry with basmati rice and red chili raita, while I will have sunny side up egg in a tomato, ginger, garlic and onion based curry sauce. With it water or buttermilk til I made some yogurt for tomorrow. For dessert just a fruit of your own choice.

Well, it is actually EARLY in the season. The produce season in Western Mexico starts in October and runs toward June. Without a strong Mexican produce industry, much of the US would NOT have the great variety of fresh produce this tome of year.

I live near Rio Rico, AZ produce warehouses. The produce brokers donate the product they cannot sell to local charities. The charities sell 60# of produce to the general public for $10 to cover their costs. I generally buy 60-120# and distribute it among my neighbors and the local food banks.

Here was Saturday's selection:
  • Bell Peppers (Colored)
  • Chilies (Pablano)
  • Corn
  • Eggplants
  • Oranges
  • Salads - 5# iceburg
  • Cucumbers
  • Tomatillos
  • Tomatoes (Roma)
  • Tomatoes (Round)

This is a great contrast to the overpriced farmer's markets that are sponsored by some of the national food charities in this area.
