In the event of a hurricane, if your nearest WH is operating with full staff and full menu, then you can call it a "Code Green". No big deal. If that WH is operating with limited staff and offering a more limited menu, then it can be called "Code Yellow". Be cautious. But, if you show up at WH and see the place is closed down....you better run for yo' life, 'cause all you-know-what's about to come down on you. A "Code Red" at a Waffle House is so rare that you should expect a major cataclysm.

Actually, in hurricanes, they measure the amount of damage from the storm surge by the amount of damage to Waffle Houses in the area. After all, most locations are nearly identical and every southern city has dozens of them located throughout the city.

There so many waffle houses in the south, particularly GA, I have seen two at the same intersection before.

Spin to the left a bit.. You can see the old Waffle House building.. Look across the interstate, there's another one.

Both those were in operation for many years at the same time.. They decided to move one into town about 8-10 years ago.

Huddle House for certain items only. Waffle House overall. Surprised so many people who appear to live in the south haven't heard of Huddle House.

And Waffle House >>>> IHOP , too.

But the ambience... the dipping semi-dirty cutlery in your water and wiping with the napkin ...the clientele ... WH is truly an experience.

Funny thing is I'd drive by IHOPs for years before ever actually going to one. I knew I'd like them though. I like how extensive their menu is. I had gone to, and have loved, Waffle House since childhood. I know I'll probably love Huddle House, too. But honestly, I had never heard of it before this thread...

Thought Huddle Houses closed. I'd hit Dennys or IHOP over Waffle house.

Bumping for a question. Never been to a Waffle House. Since they are open 24 hrs., does that mean their entire menu is available 24hrs? Can you get pork chops at 6am?

I think so. I've only eaten there once. You can get anything at 3 AM, so I assume you can get everything at 6.
