I've noticed some places tell me wrong information about whether an item contains an allergen. I've been a close second away from eating something I'm not supposed to. What saved me is double checking and asking the staff again.

If I make the mistake of eating something I'm allergic to, due to their store's carelessness, whats the recourse in this situation?

Don't go back.

BTW - if your food allergy is that severe why put your life in the hands of strangers?

The recourse? When in doubt.. Don't eat out.

My grandson is sensitive to foods.. So we pack his meal when dining out so that he can enjoy a dinner with the family. We pay 2$/3$ for the meal to be warmed up.

chefs work better when you state what you can have... Then remark made without xyz.

Don't eat there again.

I can't eat at any restaurants because I have allergies other than the top eight.

Then stick to places you know you can trust.

It's your responsibility to keep yourself safe, not the restaurant's, and nobody working at the restaurant will know as much about your allergy as you do. You can complain to their corporate office but that probably won't do much.

if allergies are a potential life and death situation...why put that risk in the hands of a server making minimum wage...

Lots of people work outdoors but take their meal from home where they can make the food allergen-free. Get a fanny pack. Put in one of those freezable thingies. Pack a sandwich. Or a salad. Or whatever you might be able to have. Stop in the restaurant or the nearest convenient store and purchase a drink.
It isn't impossible, you just have to learn to think creatively.

I suggest looking through the allergies section in Health & Wellness and see if anyone has any tips.
