Hahahahaha!! I will, absolutely. But only after I move -- so sometime in late June. But I know that it will transform my life. Well, if not my whole life, at least my dinner choices. As I told George Chong, I don't like wet lettuce and I will end up making many more salads. Win/win.
Just wash the lettuce, grab a bunch in each hand, then go outside and wave your arms like a maniac. You get the same result, and you get some exercise.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the kids love it.
I love my OXO salad spinner. But an old, clean pillowcase also works in a pinch. You put the wet lettuce leaves into the pillowcase, then whirl it around in circles so the pillowcase absorbs the water. This works on the same principle as the salad spinner - centrifugal force - but you don't need a special gadget or the shelf space to store it. The only downside is that if you eat salads every day, you could go through a lot of pillowcases! And it's a good idea to take the pillowcase outdoors to spin it.
I've got the larger OXO. The smaller one sounds tempting - but when I compare the bowl dimensions to the larger one it sounds pretty small. When you think about how lettuces "fluff up" they might be kind of crammed into the small bowl.
I will say though I do love the OXO.
My old OXO died and I was so disappointed to find that they replaced it with a smaller version. Now you can only get big and small and I need a medium!

I think I'll stick with my salad spinner. Eating salad that just came out of an old pillowcase just does not sound appetizing to me.
