Although expensive, Halibut is an excellent alternative. I avoid farmed fish and Tilapia falls straight into that category and a lot of it is from Asia which is the worst thing you could eat. In my neck of the woods you can get wild caught red snapper but it is also expensive (not as much as Halibut) and runs at around $20 a lb for fillet and $10 a lb for whole snapper. The other thing I like is wild caught Salmon, usually sockeye and previously frozen. No choice on the frozen in south Texas I'm afraid. I like fish but good quality fish is getting harder and harder to find at a decent price.
IDK, it is getting harder and harder for me to find quality fish, that is not frankenfish(farm raised craplapia, farm-raised trout that is very anemic looking, any fish from China, etc), at a reasonable price.
I like canned fish and you can get quality at a good price......but all that sodium and I have read it is sky-high in histamine (I believe I am sensitive), so I cut WAY back.
