You can buy a water filter and cut back on plastics by drinking the water that comes out of your faucet instead of buying bottle water that just comes out of another town's faucets.

Yep. I drink water both from our tap and from the filtered fridge. Not adding more plastic to the landfills.
Minerals are good for us, but I don't agree that ingesting fluorines and chlorine is good.
I've had some water filters, even the Brita pitcher but these do not filter out fluoride. I resent being forced to consume fluoride. There is a LONG history on this "fraud" and I've been in the battle for years and our town bought into fluoridation back in 2008....The filters that filter out fluoride are quite expensive.
So I pick the lesser of the two poisons. I buy all my cooking and drinking water. So I deal with the plastic stuff.
There is no public water system where I live, so my house uses rainwater catchment.
I treat it with chlorine and multiple filters, plus a UV light, and it tastes delicious.
The county has spigots where you can fill jugs with county-treated water for free. That works if you can't afford the expense of filtration.
