Most milkshakes need a couple hours in the freezer to make them only drinkable with a good deal of difficulty - or a spoon. Then they are perfect.

They're not a milkshake. They're a frozen dessert.

I know some people like a shake that can be turned upside down and stay in the cup/glass, and others, like me, prefer a shake that one can immediately drink through a straw.

So... do you like to eat your shake with a spoon or drink it?
I want mine so I can drink it, if I wanted ice cream I would order it. Years ago, we used to go to Bob's big boy in CA, later known as Shoney's. They made theirs super think and I never did like them.

I like it smooth enough that I can drink it almost immediately, but I don't want it watery.

What a fun thread.

I can see I am in the minority ... I like THICK shakes, the kind you have to use a spoon for at first, then maybe the last ounce or two you can drink through a straw.

This thread DID make me want to go out and get ingredients for a milkshake ... seems pretty easy, right? I will have to report back, with a photo of course!

It has to have the right amount of creaminess, frostiness, and silkyness too. If it's too thick it's an ice cream not milkshake.

Shake Shack has a good shake, it's custardy and creamy.
