I think I know why American cheese is called American cheese because we learned how to process during world war two or something like that.
My spouse is Eastern European and they won't eat American cheese she thinks it's gross but I proved to her that it's good on grilled cheese. I also like a slice of American cheese on my chili.
But got me thinking is it an insult that something so processed and I guess cheap is American cheese is that what American is processed items?
It's processes, and isn't cheese, but cheese product. However, melts great and used for burgers, grilled cheese sandwich, pizza etc.
Won't eat it either, thought...

Cooper Sharp was the American cheese I grew up with with. It's in the deli case. There's no plastic.
