Mmmmmm stoned ground whole wheat bread toasted with Jif peanut butter.....yummo! Can't make a sandwich without bread. It's not a sandwich with lettuce leaves instead. Bread's a required ingredient for a sandwich. You don't need to eat a whole loaf in one sitting. But if you want to, knock yourself out.
I'm sure if I were on a deserted island and needed food and all there was is bread, sure I'd eat it to save my life...but otherwise...not anymore. Too many good foods to eat vs breads.. I've stopped buying cookies, cakes, pies too as I really don't want to end up with diabetes.
You may still end up with diabetes! Giving up carbs doesn't prevent a person from getting diabetes.
My husband was diagnosed as a diabetic in 2013. When we went to diabetic classes, the teacher said there was no difference between whole-wheat bread and white bread, or brown rice and white rice. They both increase your blood sugar. If you don't have to worry about blood sugar levels, go ahead and have the white bread....it tastes much better.
Ahh thanks for the info! My blood sugar levels are good right now so I think I will stick with the white bread

More and more are going to the lettuce vs breads for sandwiches...mostly women for sure and younger women... Who says we can't change how things have been done for decades.

It's been a sandwich for centuries! I don't know of a single person who eats a sandwich without bread but wrapped in lettuce. Not even an option where I live. How do you eat a Philly Cheese Steak? Meatball sub? Chicken or eggplant parm sub? Turkey club? Open face hot turkey sandwich? I'm making myself hungry.....damn

Well some of us don't eat subs, philly steak sandwiches...I'm talking the normal sandwich with two slices of bread with meats or whatever in the middle. Eating habits are changing and many are more in touch with what they put in their mouths as all that goes on the bellies and joints etc etc. Now a young person who is working out like mad, can eat just about anything.

I know plenty of people of all ages who eat sandwiches with bread. Maybe you eat your wraps, but you're not everyone!

Oh millions eat the regular type sandwiches and who said I was everyone. Lettuce wrap sandwich people are in the minority. We have so much obesity and diabetes in our population and some are waking up more and more...many are not.
