I made a deep dish spring form pan pizza tonight. I got the idea from watching a Valerie Bertinelli video on You-tube.
I went to the local Mom and Pop pizzeria and bought a large dough and hand stretched it to fit in the pan like a pie crust with plenty of leftover hanging outside. Layered Mozzarella cheese, cooked Italian sausage, peppers and onion. Sauce, more sausage, peppers and onion and topped with more cheese then some more peppers and onion. (very thin sliced)
I brought up the remaining dough, sort of folded and tucked it to make it fit without closing the top.
Baked at 400 for 20 minutes, covered with foil and baked for another 20 minutes, it was freakin great!!!
The only downfall was a bit of accumulated grease and moisture on the top which I dabbed up with some paper towel..
We are having friends over for wine time late this afternoon so dinner will be just a small frozen pizza. I am serving some pretty decent and filling appetizers like asparagus wrapped in procuitto (spelling) and a Salmon spread.
maine lobster claws cooked and frozen sold in a one pound bag
26/30 count raw shrimp I will simmer both for 10 minutes and serve with melted butter
4 berry smoothie with crown royal apple
