Wow, I'm gonna add recycled glass countertops to my dream list for my someday kitchen now, along with penny floors and a copper sink.
Hm.
The kitchen I have today, is in a rental, so no projects to dream of there. And I like my pots and pans, utensils and dishes, just fine, but for the most part I'm not deeply attached to any of it, except for my coffee mugs. I have a collection. Some came from my beloved and deceased Great Aunt, who used to have one of those mug racks to display them on the wall (I don't do that, I keep mine in the cupboard.)
Also, I remember as a little girl, going to a relative's house, and being delighted over her fridge magnets, and so as an adult, I love to accumulate interesting ones. I have tourist magnets from places I've been, humorous ones, and references to things I like (movies, music.) Pretty rocks or interesting little objects glued to strong magnets. All sorts of stuff like that. They don't really serve a purpose, I don't tend to post notes on the fridge or anything, I just love them.

Which is reason enough to have them where you can enjoy them!
—in your kitchen? What item do you love to look at or enjoy using? What makes you smile or look forward to using?
In my kitchen, I have a bright blue tea kettle. I really enjoy boiling water for tea in it and pouring the boiling water into my light blue teapot. The ritual of making tea in a teapot is very pleasant and it is more so for me because I use kettle and pot that I find aesthetically pleasing. It also helps that I like drinking tea!
What do you have in your kitchen that makes you happy to use? Or that you are simply happy to have in there?
That's easy. My Kitchenaid "Artisan" stand mixer.
Not only is it powerful, reliable, and amazingly useful - it's sleek, retro design is just beautiful to behold.
Two things:
An old 8" frying pan that I use (with a slightly mis-matching pot lid) to re-heat almost everything.
And an Opinel 9 Carbon knife that seems to stay sharp forever.
A heavy stainless steel omelet pan used only for eggs. Eggs glide over that pan, it never needs scraping and cleans up with a drop of dawn.
