When I want Hellmans on a sandwich or fries I use it, otherwise I don't.
I also use Miracle Whip in potato salad.

I ate a cheeseburger last night, and renembered to say, “no mayo.” I like mayo on some things, but not a burger. I believe this burger chain has a mayo based special sauce. Sometimes I forget to specify.

It was a good burger, and a lovely indulgence.

I grew up in a vegan family, but it seems like one of the less gross things to eat if I had to switch to a mainstream American diet.

You can buy vegan mayonnaise.

Nasty. Hate it. I’d bathe in spicy brown mustard, but can’t stand mayo.

You mean you can buy a vegan mayonnaise-like substance. Real mayonnaise is egg and oil. I don't even want to know what "mayonnaise" made without egg has in it.

Yeah, that. It at least has a lot of oil. I'm not sure what the other stuff is. I've never bought it.

I only like mayonnaise when it has first been opened, so I buy the smallest container (rarely) of the brand I like, keep it in a cool place and use it up within a day or so. I don't like it when it has been refrigerated. I plan my meals around using it up...... sandwiches (tomato and white bread in season), potato salad, parmesan chicken. I make a big tuna pasta salad, eat some and bake the rest as a casserole..... but once the mayonnaise has lost (or gained) something that I find distasteful, I toss it. I plan well and generally use it up before that happens.

strange I know
