Philly has changed their ingredients recently so they have less junk added to it. It has pasteurized milk and cream, salt, carob bean gum, cheese culture. It has 110 mg of sodium compared to 95 mg in a serving of Arla cream cheese.
I was just happy when they changed Philly and it didn't have xanthan gum anymore.
I am staying away from Xanthan and carob bean gum. Even thought carob bean is the lesser of the two evils.
I will have to take a look later this week when I visit Costco. I have seen Arla cheese slices in the refrigerated case at Costco, but I have never seen their cream cheese spread at Costco. I will have to make it a point to take a closer look.

I can't have guar or xanthan gum because it can sometimes contain soy protein, but carob bean gum doesn't seem to have the same issue. I was excited when Philly changed their ingredients, because it meant I could have cream cheese again, and I thought I'd lost it forever
The whole reason for the gums is to prevent separation of the liquid form the solid cheese.
Personally, I think it is unneccesary as its existence is solely to appease the 10% of the customer base that is "grossed out" by a bit of liquid in the packaging.
For those that read labels and are concerned about all the crap that is used to preserve food, well I found a cream cheese that has none of that. Arla is the brand and it's from Denmark. It has cream, salt and cheese cultures that's it. It was on sale for $1.99 this week by me. It's a 7 ounce container. Best cream cheese I ever had and worth buying.
What stores sell it, lubby? I'd like to try it.
I don't live on Long Island anymore. I am hoping it's a national chain.
I don't care for American cream cheese, and often wonder why we don't have more love for Farmer cheese quark style. That kind of cheese isn't possible to buy where I live, and I have to make it myself.
Never saw Arla cheese either. The only cream cheese available here is a Philadelphia brand, which I find rubbery and tasteless.
You find Kraft Philadelphia to be "rubbery and tasteless?" I find it to be soft and savory. I can eat an 8 ounce bar with no accompaniment. Are there other cheeses that you can't taste? I've never heard of this.
I've never heard of this cheese, but I'm all for trying something new. In my area, it can be found at Safeway, Sam's Club and Costco.
