We don't eat much jam. We do have a jar of strawberry Bonne Maman in the fridge--my son bought it. It's good.
Personally I prefer something less sweet (I know, that's kind of the point of jam). I buy Smucker's Simply Fruit. I love the apricot and the blueberry. It has chunky little pieces of fruit.
I do remember the strawberry freezer jam my mother used to make. We would eat it with ice cream. It was great!
I 100% make my own, Especially something common like Strawberry. You're able to control the sweetness/sugar content as well as "preservatives" (lemon juice for me).
This is one of those Really simple cooking things that makes a HUGE difference in taste/quality. It's simply adding strawberries to a pot with some sugar and heating. Mash with a fork/spoon/whatever till you get the consistency you want and then add to jar, lemon juice will preserve it a little (not shelf-stable, needs to be refrigerated). How much sugar is up to you, I measure nothing and do it by eye/taste.
I agree with this. It is simple to make jam. It only takes a few minutes.
If you live near a FIKA, they sell excellent Swedish jams. I like their ligonberry. Otherwise Bonne Maman in the supermarket. BTW, I saw Bonne Maman in Paris markets.
The kind you make yourself. I guess I have been making it for so many years, I have no idea what a store purchased jam would taste like?
