How long before it spoils ? The bottled water that one buys in stores like 24 bottles or so in one unit. I think that water spoils after while. Would you drink a glass of water that was poured 2 weeks ago?

My water has the date stamped on the bottle - are you asking about water that has been sitting out for two weeks? If so, YUCK.

No, not unless I was perishing of thirst.

Bottled water should have freshness date stamped on bottle.

If I found a glass of water that had been out in the open, for 2 weeks, I would give it to my plants. Unopened bottles are good for a long time, but after a while, you can taste the plastic.

We buy the packages from Sam's and there are a heck of a lot of bottles. Never yet had one that tasted any different whether 3 months old or 3 days old. Now, after opened that might be a little different story

depends how its kept, if its in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight it'll keep several months, maybe 6 months but eventually the plastic will start to break down and leech into the water.

Well, I wouldn't eat or drink anything that had been served and left out for two weeks.

But stored, it depends on the container. Water in glass bottles will last longer than plastic which starts to degrade (especially if exposed to heat or direct sunlight)

Not true. They stored water in civil defense shelters 40+ years and it was still potable.

If placed in plastic...follow the expiration stamp.
If glass, pretty good longivity (minus the climate or storage temp variance).

A controlled temp environment is key.

Some plastics are very safe and stable - we have the large 5 gallon water cooler bottles that we own. It's a harder plastic than what small water bottles are made of. I just fill them up from our own spring, store in a cool dark place, and they would last indefinitely, if we didn't use them. We then reuse the bottles, just as any company providing water cooler bottles would do.

As for the water itself, it doesn't "go bad". If it was clean and potable to begin with, and you keep it out of the sunlight (which could cause algae growth), it will remain clean. Water isn't like fruit juice or milk. It could taste a bit flat after a few years, but pouring it into another container to aerate it, will remove that taste. It hasn't been contaminated just because it's been stored.

Open containers are another story. Things floating in the air can spoil it.
