I didn't mention the tiny wizened apple, but it was the only edible thing on the flights, unless I was lucky enough to score a hard boiled egg.

The only decent airline food is on international flights in first or business class. And even those meals are uneven. We fly internationally 8 to 10 times a year, with half those flights between the US and Mexico and the others between US and EUR. We always fly US carriers.

Before we connect Internationally we always have a US domestic flight and always we fly first class. The food is almost non-existent these days and when you get it, almost always a disappointment.

My wife and I were once bumped to first class on a trans continental flight and realyy enjoyed it because of the food. There was 2 meals, champagne, wine and fine chocolate for snacks. That was long ago, I am sure it is not like that now.

I do enjoy airline food, when we travel we do first class. On our last flight in the morning we had a baked kish ( I think) a bowl of fruit and chobani yogurt, with whatever you wanted to drink, wine mimosas whatever, and coming back for dinner we had strawberry mixed green salad with feta, chicken and sausage in a sauce in sauce with rice on the side ( Indian type food) and a big slice of cheesecake and choice of wine. This was domestic. Why we do first class ? Because if we even took the economy with extra room, that would only save $300 for two people both ways flight. We don’t mind paying the extra 75 per person per flight for the free food and drinks extra leg room, getting on first, not waiting end enjoying our flight. We don’t travel often, maybe 3 times a year so there’s that too.

What airline food? You get peanuts and juice boxes on most flights.

The decent meals come on international flights not domestic ones. It also helps to be in business or first class.

Unless you are going on a long flight airline's don't give you any meals. Last time I had an actual meal on an airplane was 20 years ago and it was terrible. I think it was eggs.

Me too. And I'm talking about coach class way back in the day, when it was standard with any fare. I never really understood the bad rap it received from so many people.

It was something to look forward to, that broke the monotony of a long flight.

(But then, I also greatly enjoyed school cafeteria food when younger. Often licked the tray clean, before becoming more socially conscious about how bad that looked.)
