I would ask to see their business license. No way are they a professional. Is their kitchen up to code? I suspect cats walking on top of the counter and children sticking their finger in the batter.
I'm not a big fan of frosting, so I'm enjoying that these types of cakes are trendy. It still takes some effort to make sure each layer looks good. With frosting, its much easier to hide any imperfections the cakes might have.
I agree! I know they are trendy and at some point, they will look dated and people will stop having them. But for now, I think they are a refreshing change of pace so they look attractive to me. Plus I mostly eat around the frosting anyway, so I think I'd prefer the way they taste.
To answer the question, would I order from this place? No. The cakes look very amateurish, almost like something a kid would make. They are not worth the money. I could make these at home, easily.
Yeah...it almost looks like cakes someone would post on Pinterest...
But I agree, they are fairly amateur looking... if they taste good enough, though, I wouldn't care! And it's not like I could do any better myself, so I'll try to be nice.

not really. This would be an example of a non-badly done version of a Peppa Pig cake.

To me, a cake without frosting is just a large muffin.
I don't have the tolerance for sweetness like I did when I was young, but still need frosting on a cake! Vanilla buttercream (the real kind) is my favorite, and I don't mind fondant either - as long as it isn't overwhelming.
I find the cakes made at Publix to be beautiful, delicious and reasonably priced.
We don't have Publix around here, but Safeway cakes are the go-to for most people... it's where we get cakes for our staff parties, and they're both reasonably priced and tasty! But if I wanted to spring for a GREAT store-bought cake, Whole Foods and Draeger's (a local "fancy" chain) are worth the extra money. The latter has an Oreo buttercream cake that is to DIE for.
