DQ has always been one of my favorite fast food joints, but we have gone from probably ten in my area down to only one that I know of. I keep seeing DQ commercials on TV so I'm assuming they must still be going strong on other areas? I sure do miss the banana splits and pecan mudslides, not to mention the burgers. Are any of you noticing DQ declining in your area?

They shut down the Dairy Queen In Bristol, Tn probably 5 years ago or so and its now a wing place, when it was open it had the largest rats I've ever seen running around by the dumpster, it was so filthy when it was open I remember commenting on how it looked like a Royal Castle from years gone by...amazing their still open in some areas.

In metro Atlanta, I haven't seen any decline. In fact, I've seen a few new ones.

Maybe it's just in my area then.

Another one that I used to love was Hardee's. It used to be so good in the 80's, but when Carl's Jr bought them out in the early 90's they went to the toilet. They are slowly closing one by one.

Hardees is losing locations. I have a Hardees in my town, but the town I lived in prior to this one had its Hardees location close.

I don't understand why so many people are hard on Hardees. It is the same as Carl's Jr., and it is very popular out west.

Their food was better before Carl's Jr took over IMO.

From what I understand, Dairy Queen is pressuring its franchisees to make changes they don't want to make:

Dairy Queen faces franchisee revolt - Food Inc. - MSNBC.com

Wonder if this has been a continuing battle that has resulted in fewer DQs across the country?

I had Hardee's for the first time a couple months ago and I didn't really like it. I'm not really big on fast food joints. I only find myself at them every 6 months or longer but Sonic looks pretty good. I wanna try that. And I've never had DQ burgers but they look good on the commercials.
