Soda Stream? (coupons, syrup, commercially, bottles)

I did a search on the forum and didn't find any recent, specific threads, so if this is a duplicate I apologize.

Does anyone have/use/recommend the Soda Stream? I've been drinking a lot more sparkling water lately, and in addition to the cost, I'm not a fan of all the single use plastic bottles and cans that are involved with the products. Do people find this gadget worth it?

I've had one for years. I wore out one and already using another, I also have an extra unit new in a box. I gave up soda years ago but I love sparkling water. I even went as far as get my own Co2 tank to refill my tanks. You will find that the cost of the refills is cost prohibitive.

We have one and love it. We got the machine on sale with a coupon, and while the cartridge refills are officially about $30 each, stores like Staples and Bed, Bath & Beyond sell them half price if you bring in your old cartridge for recycling. We figured that the amount of sparkling water we get from one cartridge would cost far more than $15, not even considering the plastic waste involved in buying water and the time & energy involved in lugging all those bottles in from the car.

We recently got one and are quite enjoying it. No, it's not quite as carbonated as the commercial versions, but it's enough for us.

You can carbonate it a much as you want, just keep pressing down on the thing. Once it makes the funny sound, keep pressing it down at least 5 more times. You will get plenty of carbonation, more than a regular soda.

Love my soda stream. I use it exclusively for sparkling water, as I don’t really like sugary soda drinks.

The $15 for refills is a pretty minor cost overall, and certainly worth it when you compare the annoyance of purchasing and storing an equivalent amount of soda or seltzer.

I've had one for about six years. I use it multiple times a day.

I tend to make my water much more fizzy than commercially prepared sparking water.

I always use Bed, Bath, and Beyond coupons for replacement canisters.

It’s fine for plain fizzy water, but none of the flavored syrups are nearly as good as “real” soda. I finally gave up on them and I don’t enjoy plain soda water, so mine is gathering dust.

Still works, though!

I'd like one, as I stopped drinking sodas years ago but still enjoy cold fizz and light flavor. However, no one in the area stocks or will order the refills. I can get plain seltzer at one local package store. Just don't like buying all that plastic.
