It’s just the two of us this year, so it’s a bit pruned down, but still hitting most of the usual dishes. I’m eliminating the dreaded green bean casserole, the creamed onions, salad with berries and sugared pecans, and rolls. Also no pumpkin pie or apple pie.
Having:
A nice breakfast bake in the morning.

Shrimp, cocktail sauce and fancy cheeses and crackers appetizers
Spiked eggnog, wine

Turkey
Pepperidge Farm stuffing with celery, onion and fresh sage.
Sweet potatoes with bourbon, brown sugar and pecans
Butternut squash
Potatoes
Gravy
Cranberry pineapple jello mold
A fresh green veg, maybe green beans. I’d really prefer roasted root vegetables, but that would be too much orange.

Pecan pie

Turkey (one traditional oven cooked and one cajun fried)
Honey Baked Ham
Sweet Potato Casserole with a topping of Brown Sugar, Pecans, Coconut, and Cherries

Turnip Green
Deviled Eggs
Macaroni & Cheese
Creamed Potatoes
Turkey Gravy
Jambalaya
A Pot of Gumbo
Purple Hull Peas
Beet Pickles
Parker House Rolls & Sour Dough Bread
Coconut Cake

Lots more people coming this year than normal. Eating will commence around 1 pm Thanksgiving and likely carry on until late in the evening. That is the part I'm struggling with...I don't think there is enough "green" on my menu....

Oh I also forgot I am making apple pie with a homemade pie crust that my niece gave me. (she's a pastry chef)first time making a crust but I don't mind because store bought has crap in it.
I think I'll buy Talenti Tahitian vanilla gelato to go with it.

I was going to make a chocolate almond flour torte, but my MIL said she couldn't bring anything that she had to cook, and SIL who had to work was going to bring the salad, so I cut it out. Luckily DH has volunteered to provide any help I may need.

I know, right? Do a spring greens salad, with sliced strawberries, sugared pecans, a bit of red onion and poppy seed dressing. It’s green, it’s good and even non salad people like the sweetness.
