I love onions. Pretty much any kind. But I prefer certain onions for certain foods

WHITE ONIONS: Hot dogs, chili, hash browns, baked potatoes

RED ONIONS: A must for salads, hamburgers and bland soup

GREEN ONIONS: pretty much all mexican food, eggs, and cheese dips.

PEARL ONIONS: Pot roast, beef and chicken stews. I have heard people like them in their martinis. Ever heard of that?

On a side note, whenever I go to Jack in the box for lunch or dinner, I always ask them to put grilled onions on my burger..its great..

Anyone else have favorite usese for onions?

Onions...Oh Yeah

The only reason I drink a Martini is the onions if it's
in the proper brine, depending on the Burger place and what I order
will deem the onion choice

#1 Bacon with Smoked Cheddar Raw Onion
#2 Mushroom & Swiss with Fried Onion

Nothing like Homemade deep fried Onion Rings !

EDIT: Homemade French Onion Soup

Speaking on onion rings..Walmart's brand of battered frozen onion rings are actually really good. I was surprised. I prefer battered over breaded..Jack in the box now serves Panko breading on their onion rings

Always great to have a couple of quickies available for when the craving hits

Still waiting on someone to convince White Castle to move into the Valley

My daughter absolutely LOVES onions, mushrooms too. When she orders a sandwich or burgers she gets extra, extra onions. She has them put a large handful of onions on her six inch roast beef sandwich when she goes to Publix.

Brown onions are the most used in my household. If onions will be served raw, they are either white, green, or red depending on the dish. For cooking, it's mostly brown (or shallots).

Favorite uses for onions, where they are the main ingredient in a dish:

French onion soup
Onion rings
Onion and garlic jam - thank you Trader Joe's

As a bonus item:
Caramelized onions for a burger
In stews/braised dishes
Pot roasts

All of the above, plus I love pickled red onion on tacos, pulled pork, etc. They are quick and easy and so tasty.

Sweet red onion sliced as thin as possible on warm pita bread. Add diced tomato, lamb slices, tzatziki sauce and fold over. Delicious. Can't have gyros without onion.

Onions on everything. I would say I cook with onions, most days of the week.

The only time I'll willingly eat onions is when they're inside of a quesadilla.
