I bought a packaged food that called Kadhi Pakora that is an Indian yogurt based curry. It is a spiced yogurt with gram flour dumplings. The way it is prepared to be eaten is to boil water and then simply put the packet in water until it heats up. My question is would you feel comfortable to eat something like that that is made in northern India. The reason I ask is because their laws on handling food is probably different than ours as far as cleanliness etc.

Someone cleared it for sale in this country, so it had to pass some kind of guidelines for you to get it.

Sure. I'd eat it. Until India starts having serious food recalls I wouldn't think twice about it.

Well curry is supposed to kill food borne germs and bacteria. Most American foods lack any sort of natural germ killer so mfg just put preservatives. I think our food industry is the #1 reason Americans are super allergic and causes weakening of our immune systems because of overuse of preservatives.

You're fine, approved for import + boiling water = win.

My first thought is: if you were concerned about it to begin with why did you buy it? If I am going to buy something I do plan on eating it. I am sure you will be just fine. We all buy imported food products from time to time.

Clearly it meets standards for import/sale in the US, so it's fine.

Yes. The spices used to make curry powder were historically used as natural preservatives among other things.

No way would I eat anything made in India or China. But the major deal breaker comes from the special: Gordon Tours India. If they can't even clean up the kitchen for Gordon Ramsey's visit, then that says all I need to know.
