Say you have a small bit of vegetables or meats and are going to make pizza.
Do you throw them on there just as an addition and a way to use them up?
I'm going to assume (Bad thing to do?) most would add them to a soup or stew
Depends on the veggies and meat and the kind of pizza I'm making. Also depends if they have any sauce or flavoring added to them. I'm definitely not adding beets or cauliflower to pizza. Maybe some onions. Often I do add leftovers to soups.

We used to make pizza all the time to use up leftover veggies. I don't see why that would be bad.
That's probably what originally was done with the first pizzas in Italy. I remember reading somewhere that pizza was invented as a way to use up the extra leftover ingredients.
Shredded chicken and broccoli with ricotta as a base a mozzarella on top.
Sliced tomatoes, arugula, bacon and cheese.
Leftover potatoes diced up, corn, bacon, jalapeños and cheese.
I could go on for pages, it's rare for a pizza to be traditional in my house.
Crust is just a vehicle for whatever you're in the mood for, it's not bad to eat what you think will taste good.
I put leftover meat and vegetable odds and ends on pizza, in stir fry, in omelets or skillet scrambles, on panini, in a big baked potato, whatever grabs my fancy.

I assume that's how recipes were created in the first place. We have these things growing in our area; let's make a meal out of them. Whatever is available, let's throw it in.

Pretty sure some recipes were created out of starvation. Nobody said, "Hey, let's see how this snail tastes with butter and garlic" for any reason except that there wasn't anything else to eat.
