If the neighbor's dog isn't fat and happy yet, try stroganoff. Sour cream will curb the strong gamey taste. I add a pinch of dry ground mustard, as well.

Ha ha, I didn't eat lamb for about five years once I left home. In the old days many people would buy a side of lamb every week. My mother was, to be polite, a disinterested cook, so the routine was roast lamb on Monday, lamb salad on Tuesday, lamb casserole on Wednesday, lamb cutlets on Thursday, Friday we went to the local Chinese restaurant, thank goodness, maybe beef steak on Saturday and fish on Sunday. All the hot dishes served with over cooked frozen peas.
When I married my Italian born husband experiencing his family's cooking was going from the ridiculous to the sublime!
We now enjoy lamb about once a fortnight but I cannot and will not eat peas!
I love lamb. It's my favorite. But I would have a tough time too if it was really gamey. I would freeze it just long enough to make it firm and then slice it reeeally thin, season again with kosher salt and sear the slices quickly with olive oil in a really hot cast iron pan. I would then build a sandwich with a toasted roll, sauteed onions and peppers, and a homemade seasoned mayo based sauce slathered on.

We did that, but making it into a gyro type sandwich with pita, raw sweet onions, tomato, lettuce and tzatziki with loads of garlic. Even THAT couldn't cover up the gaminess.
I hear that the dogs down the street are enjoying it immensely.
