So I've got one of those costco food savers, which I absolutely love. But I want to reuse the bags and cleaning them is rather annoying. What's the best way the C-D folks have discovered for doing this? I would try the dishwasher, but I don't have one. Could I use the washing machine?

I've mostly done them by hand. Takes forever, especially if whatever was frozen was kinda fatty.

I would soak in sink...or big pot.....id boil some water to rinse to kill all the bacteria..

here's a tip for vacuum seal bags... if you are putting in anything moist.....cut the bottom out of a plastic or foam cup and use as a funnel ...this will keep the top edge of the bag dry for sealing

It doesn't seem very sanitary to me. How are you going to dry them quickly? You're creating the perfect warm, moist environment for bacteria to multiply if you don't get it just right.

But here's some advice on washing zip-lock bags which will probably apply.

When I had ones that contained meat? I threw them away, not worth the potential contamination. Contained veggies? Washed them in warm soapy water.

Just handwash with hot water dishsoap, rinse and put it over a knife handle or a bottle to dry. I do it all the times. Meat or not, it gets cleaned really good. No contamination fear...

Depends what's in it. I will wash meat ones then throw in the freezer after they're dry. I write what's in them so they get refilled with the same food. I'm not big on using zip lock bags or the food savers bags. It seems like with the food saver, once it's used it's trash due to not being able to get food oils off of them so I don't bother using them unless I have to
