You know, I've got them but almost never use them. Too much stuff to clean. I use a sharp knife, a large spoon, my hands (for kneading dough, after first washing them thoroughly), whatever works. I don't use a blender unless I have to puree something, which is rare.

A....

you can find relatively inexpensive blenders or food processors at discount stores, processors costing more than blenders I believe.

There are mini blenders and choppers too that might work for you. Much easier on the wallet.

Don't forget a good mortar and pestle for small things like garlic and chilis, peppercorns, etc.

A potato masher and a wire whisk can do much of what a processor does.

What is it you are trying to mix? Different things are done in different ways.

I only use my blender for blue cheese dressing, but many people use a blender for smoothies or milk shakes. If you don't make blue cheese dressing and you never drink milk shakes, smoothies, or margaritas you maybe don't need a blender.

Never saw a need for either one of them. I have a couple whisks, and an egg beater. I do have my mother's old electric hand mixer but don't use it that much. Don't really need it. Main thing I used the whisk for was an occasional instant pudding snack. Found it so much easier, and less to clean up, to put it in a sealable container and shaking it up

What do you need to mix? A spoon & or a whisk can accomplish most mixing chores.

If you need to mix dough or pie crust, a fork or butter knife to cut in & a floured board & your hands to knead and you're set.

You can “mix things” with a spoon. But you can’t puree a soup that way.

What exactly are you trying to do?
