I might order water for my self and share the information with other I dine with .
Some times the water is not palatable and ask the waiter for filtered water from the soda dispenser . that filter gets changes more often, usually.
If that water is acceptable then I share that info with others and they can decide. If the waiting staff sees how you care for your food and that of your friends ,the food is likely to be better .
Saying nothing lends to the lack of taste, and saying something indicates you talk to your friends.
Word of mouth is stronger sales than tv advertising.
I'll take the ice. I hate when you ask for ice (usually up north/Canada) and you get a glass with a single cube. Down south, we know that ice melts, so there better be plenty in the glass.
Years ago, I let a friend talk me into joining a vegetarian/vegan group who met at different restaurants once a month. I was generally the only person in fifteen or twenty people who ordered something to drink. The whole table would drink only water. Some with lemon, some without, but at least people ordered it to their individual taste. If they thought I was strange for drinking iced tea or a soda, so be it.
Ice tea has >30g of sugar on each serving, too much for anyone
Never seen it done OP. I order two glasses of water for me. I drink four if more large water glasses with all meals. I down it fast too so servers at a table can't keep up and few bartenders can. Info order water for my wife as an add on after she orders her drink and food but it's a water for me.
Sweet tea perhaps? My iced tea has 0 grams of sugar per serving
I drink unsweetened, too.
