I was wondering, which of the big three boxed cake mixed brands do you prefer - Betty Crocker, Duncan Hines, or Pillsbury?

I am a Betty Crocker fan myself. I like their Strawberry and Red Velvet mixes the best.

I can't use cake mixes anymore, but when I did, I always used Duncan Hines.

Now I bake from scratch because of my allergies and I'm always surprised at how many years I used mixes when baking from scratch really isn't much more complicated.

Duncan Hines because they have a dark chocolate cake mix that my family really loves. Neither of the other two have a dark chocolate cake mix that I've found.

cakemixes…..
to me its like looking at Memorex cassettes..

just don't use them anymore..
I had a few boxes in my cupboard for years...

now I believe....you can make cupcakes from cake mixes...…

ive asked the younger millennials how to make cupcakes and 7 out of 9 didn't know .
half said they would...if they knew how ..

the cake mix people should have done more marketing ...towards cupcakes...…
as we all know cakes will make you fat.....but what harm can a cute little cupcake do ?

DH all the way, ever since I did a comparison bake off. DH had the best rise of the three major players.

Don't buy much cake mix anymore these days, but my daughter, when inspired, will use boxed cake mix to make cupcakes.

Last time I used a box mix, it was the DH spice cake mix and I added shredded carrots, plump golden raisins and chopped walnuts (and some extra Ceylon cinnamon) - frosted with the basic cream cheese frosting (cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract). It was even better than bakery carrot cake.

Yep... mainly for kid birthdays.

I do a lot of elaborate scratch cake baking... and damned if I'm gonna put in that amount of time, effort, and money for it to get smashed on a plate and abandoned in a melted puddle of ice cream with a half - finished cup of punch in a corner somewhere.

Dollar box mix, some oil, water, and eggs, and 35 min. start to finish is far smarter and more cost - effective, for kid food.

If I want to make a mix, I always choose Duncan Hines. It seems to taste less fake than the others.
