I went shopping and bought a couple of those V8 juice quart bottles. I then proceeded to leave them in the trunk of my car for a couple of days when the temperature in the trunk likely exceeded 100 degrees for hours. I now have the bottles in the fridge but I wonder as to how well that juice survived.

V8 juice doesn't need to be refrigerated until it's opened, so being in your trunk in high temperatures won't have hurt it as long as it was sealed.

In order for food to spoil, it needs to contain microbes (bacteria or fungus (ie. mold), or perhaps a protozoan) that can digest the food. Most juice is pasteurized twice before being bottled in sterile containers--no live microbes in it if it hasn't been opened.

I would worry more about the effects of heating juice for several hours in a plastic bottle--may impart chemicals to the juice. But, that's just speculation on my part

The V8 was pasteurized at a much higher temperature, so it should be fine if unopened. Long term storage at high temperatures does reduce shelf life and the taste suffers.

Think about how hot it got on the truck that transported the V8 to the grocery store. You're fine.

V* is sold on the shelf, at our stores, so I think it is perfectly fine. to drink or use in cooking.

For me--I would toss out and buy new ones. The plastic heating up when it sits in the high heat for a couple of days would bother me.

I guess they are not glass bottles anymore?
Been awhile since I had V-8...

Aren't YOU curious?
Open one of them, peek inside, smell, pour a little on a spoon, try.
It looks, smells, taste OK? Then it's OK.

Not sure why people never try it first but ask strangers on the Internet to determine it for them...

Trucks distributing that stuff drive across the country and transport in non-A/C environment anyway, it takes sometimes several days to the destination. And that's OK for the juice.
Also, the label clearly states to refrigerate AFTER opening. So, the juice is good.
Enjoy!
