Ewe.

I love oysters, and a lot of them at one sitting, but not 35 dozen of them. That's just wrong...even if he did win a prize.

Good point. 420 oysters in one sitting, REGARDLESS of time, is kinda nasty. But I'd take 20.

35 dozen does seem a huge amount. I could put away maybe 6 or 7 dozen with no problem if they were fried, smoked, or made into a big bowl of stew.

I could eat two or three dozen, perhaps. I eat oysters with horseradish and cocktail sauce. Oysters are so good for you - they're rich in zinc. They're supposed to be good for your skin.

35 dozen - I don't know if I could look at an oyster after that ever again.

Tried them once. Didn't care for them. Too slimy.

An oyster looks like a sneeze in a shell and eating one feels like swallowing a big gob of phlegm. You know the type I mean - when you've been exercising with a blocked nose and afterwards you really need to hock one up but it's just out of reach so you have to let it slide down the back of your throat in all its slimy glory. At an oyster bar you're basically paying for this experience! They're disgusting when cooked so God knows what they'd be like raw. Needless to say I won't be rushing out to try some.

Love raw oysters, try with a dash of some red wine vinegar. They are an aphrodisiac!

I have never eaten raw oysters but never understood this...people say you don't chew them at all, just swallow whole. How much can you taste doing that? I don't understand how some people think they are so good when they go down whole in a 1/2 a second.

I think I was weened on shell fish. I absolutly love raw oysters! Top them with horseradish, cocktail sauce, or a shot of Texas Pete it doesn't matter, it's all good. Never have I or anyone I have known just swallowed them we always chew. Now we have seen it done but that's usually by people that are just trying them and don't like the texture. I say, "Don't bother. Pass them this way!"
The proper way to eat an oyster

And another with the best answer to: "Should I swallow the oyster or chew it?"
