I used to have one of those big contraptions like you listed. I hated it.

Then I got a little one in this style and LOVE it. https://www.amazon.com/Original-Spir...ix=spir&sr=8-1

Which one did you have?

Why didn’t you buy the SpiraLife in the first place?

I don't remember which one I had. I just know that it was one of those big "counter models" that I found to be a waste of space, money, and effort.

They didn't have those little hand-held ones until later on in the spiralizing game, I don't think.

I don't have the SpiraLife -- I just checked and I have the Zoodle Chef:

It's brilliant. It takes me less than a minute per zucchini.

Unlike Ms. Dawn, I haven't owned one of the larger ones you're referring to Reston. But I do have the same one she does. I love the ease of cleaning, and small, so also easy to store.

Great for zucchinni spaghetti. The trick is to salt it after making the zoodles, and lay them on a thick mat of paper towels. This will pull the liquid out, and make them easier to cook.

Also awesome for making thin potato curly french fries. Dry them off after spiralizing, then sprinkle with cornstarch. Nice and crunchy

edit for Ms. Dawn: It's about respect Miss

Looked at both of the two handhelds you mentioned and unfortunately neither had as good of ratings of the two tabletop models I referenced.

You want a beast of a machine because the small one has half a star less and could be because the shipment took longer than expected? Okay, go for it. I'd trust me and TerraDown more than I would the general Amazon masses, but it's your money and effort...

If you have a KitchenAid, they make a great spiralizer attachment. It can be put put away neatly in the box in comes in when not in use.
