Got a head start on tomorrow's dinner, as recipe calls for overnight refrigeration. Started on the crab cakes.i had found this interesting recipe from one of the daily mailers. It called for Old Bay seasoning, but I also added a bit of Bayou seasoning (think Emeril's?).
Plain peasant food plus use up stuff from the freezer and leftover bits in the fridge. Two kinds of German sausage, Napa cabbage, onions, potatoes, spices with juniper berries and a touch of caraway, with a little mustard sauce. What was left of the homemade pickled canned roasted beets.
My local Aldi does these amazing jars of large roasted red peppers in olive oil.They're wonderfully sweet and work out the equivalent of about a dollar a jar.
So I sliced a couple of them up on a large shop-bought veggie pizza with some sun-dried tomatoes and grated extra parmesan.
When cooked I emptied a packet of rocket over it with some olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing.
Mrs RC and I enjoyed it with a bottle of Argentine Malbec.
It was delicious.
