I wanted to go to a Ma and Pa steakhouse we've heard a lot about but DH found a good sale on New York strip steaks he said he'd grill tonight and also brought home some twice-baked potatoes they sell in the butcher case.

The man's on fire. Then he went to the Farmer's Market and bought beets and sweet corn and now he's in the country at a friend's farm by invitation to pick what looks good.

I told him to look for some bell peppers. Red if they've got them, to stuff with rice and meat.

I never make onion rings any more but was feeling motivated to fry up a few for supper tonight. Now with the prep work that's waiting in the kitchen I probably won't. I have several pies worth of sliced apples in the downstairs refrigeration waiting to be taken care of also. Yet here I sit reading you!

Seems like the past few weeks whatever I plan to have gets put off for a day. So, yesterday we didn't have our steak, we had chicken fried instead, fried Okra and corn on the cob.. Tonight is grilled steak, grilled veggies and a nice green salad. Happy Labor weekend to all. !!!!!!!

I'm uninspired and the fridge and garden are saying pizza and salad, so I guess I have to make dough.

This heat is making me lean to an all veggie night.

I spent most of the afternoon cooking a chicken pot pie for my neighbors - one is under the weather (the cook) so I like to help them out. I did manage to make some pasta sauce in the Instant Pot that we will have over a porcini and truffle ravioli I found at HEB. I'll make a really nice caprese salad to go with it.

We had the laziest dinner ever, but good.
Leftover meatloaf, scalloped potatoes and steam in a bag green beans. Frozen leftover angel cake with lemon filling. So easy.
Tomorrow, I’ll try harder, but I bet it won’t be any better. I’ll give DH a choice of steak or ribs.

Shirred eggs with toast soldiers, from my Secret Garden cookbook. Yorkshire Parkin (gingerbread) for dessert. I’m looking forward to cooking from this book when my daughter is a little older.
