an early fall chiil today and we'll be hanging outdoors at a socially-distanced small gathering all afternoon, so I'm thinking a nice bowl of vegetable soup and some crusty bread will be perfect for dinner tonight.
Going out tonight to listen to a rock and roll band with 5 others: we will pick up something to eat there. It will be fast food as the band plays once a month at this little restaurant near us and it is a convenient store as well. It will probably be our last chance to hear them this year as the weather will be turning a bit too cold to sit outside in the evening.
Grilled pork chops with balsamic vinegar on a bed of mashed sweet potatoes. Probably a side salad to help clear out the fridge.

We took a seven hour cruise around the island today, stopping off in deserted coves and diving off the top of the boat into crystal clear waters.
For lunch we anchored off a stone jetty and watched the crew set up a barbecue to cook chicken basted with honey and soy sauce just as the meat was nearly cooked. We enjoyed this with pasta, salad, rice and beans under the shade of a few trees.
Earlier we'd watched the captain haul out from the sea a wire pot with a dozen or so small fish trapped inside - but they were for him to take home for his supper.
As we left he loaded up the pot with all the leftover food and bread and sank it again.
As he works 7 days a week throughout the summer he took fresh fish home every day for his wife to grill or make into a stew.
We returned to port as the sun was cooling down for the evening and enjoyed a few gin and tonics before dinner of grilled lamb chops, meatballs in spaghetti and a carafe or three of Greek wine.
It was a magical day made all the more remarkable because much of Greece is currently being lashed by an extremely rare cyclone.
Mr Roscoe this sounds like a perfect Saturday.
